"Clean, Safe, Affordable Propulsion Through Innovation"

Mr. Shane B. Coogan - Research Engineer
Mr. Coogan graduated with an M.S. degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Stanford University in 2008. Prior to studying at Stanford he received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Rice University in 2006. Mr. Coogan is deeply interested in the design and operation of spacecraft and aircraft and recognizes propulsion as the often era-defining technology in aerospace.
At Stanford Mr. Coogan participated in the university's Google Lunar X-Prize effort through the design and testing of a prototype lunar descent hybrid rocket motor. While still enrolled at Stanford he also worked in industry in the Flight Deck Engineering group of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, focusing on pilot related human factors and flight control integration. Research at Rice included the original design and testing of a ducted fan propulsion system for vertical take off and landing UAVs as well as the study of reentry aerothermodynamics testing in arc-jet facilities.
Smitten with flight from an early age, Mr. Coogan is a private pilot with airplane and glider ratings.
